Podcast
In 2007, I ended my brief podcasting career, and stuck with (occassionally) blogging over here. For the sake of posterity, my podcasts between 2005 and 2007 are available below.
This page is the "podcast" companion to my blog. Basically, I got lazy about typing in my blog entries, and a good friend of mine encouraged me to continue it using the podcasting medium. Below are the audio files.

128 | The Three Horsemen: 9/11, Katrina, and Cho: Why Cho? | What could our national lust for oil have to do with Cho? Lust for oil => death of community => alienation. Combine this with America's cultural vaccuum, and we have the most fertile soil for the Chos of the world. (Except maybe for Quebec.) | 50:38 | Wed, 18 Apr 2007 |
127 | The Three Horsemen: 9/11, Katrina, and Cho: Background | How did the Virginia Tech massacre make me feel? NYTimes treatments of the three events. 122 | Sports and Enlightment (Superbowl XLI) | Sports as a path to enlightement? Evidenced in the Superbowl no less? Peyton Manning, for chrissakes? I assure you, nobody else who watched that game had these strange thoughts. | 15:18 | Sun, 4 Feb 2007 |

119 | Marriage and Enlightenment | For better or worse, we tend to marry a proxy for one of our parents. Gives us a chance to work out childhood aversions and obsessions and thus move toward enlightenment. | 36:14 | Sat, 20 Jan 2007 |
118 | Seth Roberts and the Shangri-La Diet: My Experience | My podcast = intellectual masturbation. Time to become a prof? Anyway, the diet sort of seems to work. | 09:25 | Fri, 12 Jan 2007 |

116 | Seth Roberts and the Shangri-La Diet: The Theory | Seth Roberts has come up with a theory combining Pavlovian learning with the set point body fat model. If true, the theory would answer a number of my own open questions about body fat. Fascinating reading. | 42:46 | Fri, 29 Dec 2006 |
115 | Winter Solstice Fast 2006 | Just finished my three-day fas for the winter solstice. Here is my report. | 12:13 | Thu, 21 Dec 2006 |
114 | American Turnings, Presidents, and the Enneagram: Where are the 8s? | Since the crisis Presidents were 7s, and their generals were 5s, how is that America is an 8 country? We find our answer in George Mason. | 19:13 | Thu, 21 Dec 2006 |
113 | American Turnings, Presidents, and the Enneagram: The Model | It seems that every U.S. President in office during American crises -- Washington, Lincoln, and Roosevelt -- were Enneagram 7 types. Moreover, the winning generals of the last two -- Grant and Eisenhower -- seemed to have been 5s. | 34:00 | Wed, 20 Dec 2006 |
112 | FTC Sides with the People | I have said that the Corporations own the Government and its bureaucracies. But then the FTC just came out on the side of the People concerning Word of Mouth marketing. What is up with that? | 19:27 | Wed, 20 Dec 2006 |

109 | Predictions Update for 2006 | Two years after I issued these obscure 8 predictions, 5 of them are looking even money or better to come true. | 35:59 | Thu, 30 Nov 2006 |
108 | You Know You Are in a Fat Country When ... | My experiment making bread -- weird results. Also, NYT Magazine article says that Fat Studies are starting to be taught in universities from every perspective but health. Only in America. | 34:21 | Thu, 30 Nov 2006 |
107 | My 2006 Greece Trip | Back after two weeks in Greece. Same story about the amazing food there. Some notes on body odor and Serbia. Also picked olives with my dad, had them pressed, and brought back the olive oil. Mmm mmm. | 21:38 | Wed, 08 Nov 2006 |

94 | NYT Magazine is Kind of Stupid About Health | Kind of a redundant podcast, I suppose, given that I have blogged and podcasted about this stuff before. But it surprised that the NYT Magazine is just as misguided on health as the rest of America. | 19:25 | Sat, 2 Sep 2006 |
93 | Greece beats USA, Part II: No, Really, I Love the US | Why was I happy that the US lost to Greece? Because I love the US, and losing was exactly what the US needed. Huh? Is that a non-sequitur? Nope, listen in ... | 26:29 | Fri, 1 Sep 2006 |
92 | Greece beats USA, Part I: A Perfect Allegory | Don't worry Sean -- this is not about basketball. But the victory of Greece over the US in the FIBA basketball championships serves as an ideal allegory for Duck and Gather. | 45:55 | Fri, 1 Sep 2006 |
91 | The Power of Nightmares, Part II: My Take on 9/11 | This is my take on why 9/11 happened. After I recorded this podcast, I was surprised to learn (but should not have been) that paleo-conservative Pat Buchanan more or less shares this view of mine. See what I'm saying about the Far Left merging with Far Right? | 35:54 | Wed, 16 Aug 2006 |
90 | The Power of Nightmares, Part I: Praise and Criticism | Commenter Sean LeBlanc recommended a BBC documentary called The Power of Nightmares. I agree it's well worth watching. However, I also have some criticisms of it, approached from an Enneagram perspective. | 49:23 | Wed, 16 Aug 2006 |

86 | The Branding Underground | A NY Times Magazine article that serves as a nice follow-in to their word-of-mouth article from last year. Is the branding counter-culture evidence of the coming collapse? Even though I shun fashion, how am I like these kids? | 27:08 | Sun, 6 Aug 2006 |
85 | What I Did During my Summer of Unemployment | When I have time off, why do I choose to perform punishing manual labor, past the point of injury, and to the exclusion of all else? Why do I surf the hoop news? My guess: I'm re-living high school. | 42:36 | Thu, 13 Jul 2006 |

80 | Endings, Quiet, and Pain: Teachers | A common thread between endings, quiet, and pain is that each is a useful opportunity for learning something valuable. But it's up to us to figure what that lesson is. | 12:41 | Fri, 5 May 2006 |
79 | Weeping, Pooing, and Creative Writing: Expiators | A common thread between the experiences of weeping, pooing and creative writing is that each can serve a form of expiation -- that is, unburdening ourselves of heavy emotions. | 16:01 | Fri, 5 May 2006 |
78 | Life in America vs. Rest of the World: PhD vs. Bachelors | With no universal culture in America, each of us has to choose, from a blank slate, our own beliefs and practices. In the rest of the world, the existence of a strong uniform culture constrains these choices. There are upsides and downsides to both systems. | 28:18 | Fri, 5 May 2006 |
77 | NBA Finals: Revenge of the Sports Corporations | My analysis of the Dallas-Miami NBA finals series ... ref bias from Game 3 on was obvious ... favored Dwyane Wade ... NBA makes its money by promoting individual heroes ... Wade was the biggest potential hero in the series .. refs made sure he was ... 2006 Superbowl and 2006 NBA finals represent the revenge of the sports Corporations ... since 9/11, no-star team-oriented teams have been winning ... fans like it but the Corporations don't because there's no money in that | 40:44 | Wed, 21 Jun 2006 |

60 | Superbowl Part II: It's All About the Money | Really odd: only Pittsburgh was featured during commercials as the eventual champion ... we viewers were being conditioned ... Pro sports leagues slept through the 9/11 wake up call: they still promate individual stars, not teams ... see Tom Brady ... ... all the money (NFL marketing and Vegas) lined up behind Pittsburgh ... the NFL picked Big Ben as the future star ... he sucked worse than anyone before, yet still won thanks to the refs ... coincidence? ... Hasselback caught chasing hubris ... time to get beyond my sports addiction | 33:28 | Mon, 6 Feb 2006 |
